What are you investing in?

I never realized the power of investing in myself until now. I always gave a side eye to people who paid thousands of dollars for coaching or decided to travel across the country for a two-day conference about entrepreneurship when they didn’t even have a business. Geesh, who does that?!?

I’ve posted and reposted and posted again about how this past year has been filled with some major distractions that have caused me to “fall off” and not commit to anything I said I was going to do in the first place. I finally figured out that in order for me to stop repeating the cycle, I would need to jump off the wheel and do something completely different for once in hopes of getting different results. We’ve all heard that, right? This investment is more than financial. It’s about my self-worth, value and love. It’s all about how I feel about myself and where I want to be in life.

Well, this year, I said enough is enough. I hit an all time depressive funk. Refer to my blog post, April, why’d you have to be so stank .

I dealt with depression, sadness, and so many other emotions. I felt stuck. I knew that wasn’t what God had for me and that my journey still needed to continue regardless of my circumstances. I had to trust that what’s for me is for me but I definitely deserved a different approach to life. So, I decided to invest in myself!

What are YOU investing in?

Here’s what I’m investing in:

  1. Face my fears
  2. Do sh#t scared
  3. Be decisive and make bold decisions
  4. Trust God
  5. Set intentions
  6. Believe in my vision
  7. Surround myself withpeople of influence
  8. Understand that failure is a part of the process but quitting is not an option

Seems simple, right?!  #quittingisnotanoption

I desired more financial stability, entrepreneurial success, better results, increased joy–you get it–but I wasn’t seeing the results because I was still caught up with the same people, mindset and feelings of unworthiness. I was so distracted.  I didn’t see it, therefore, I didn’t believe it. I didn’t believe in myself enough to realize that yes, you can have whatever it is you want to achieve, as cliché’ as it sounds.

I’m not trying to compare but I see so many people out here doing what they love and getting paid for it. I see so many people living the life of their dreams literally. I thought, why can’t I?

My ugly thoughts about my self had to go…

I changed my mindset and the thoughts that I allowed to come. I had to start speaking positivity into my life so I could wipe out the discouragement, fear and disappointment.

I prayed more. I asked God for strength, direction, wisdom and truth for my life.

I am believing that what I want for my life can happen (i.e. entrepreneurship, joy, more money, inner peace, more confidence, stronger friendships, a different networking base, more confidence, a beautiful marriage, more kids (yes, more), etc).

In order for all of this to happen, I’ve decided to shift–

  • My circle
  • My social media focus
  • The way I plan my day
  • My journal routine and purpose
  • My thoughts
  • My influence

Sis, what I realized is this:

I realized that I need to see myself where I want to be and not focus on where I’m currently at.

I realize that I don’t know it all and that I constantly need to expand my horizons to conform to what it is I’m trying to accomplish–Business owner, coach, non-profit creator, author, wife, mom–These are all areas I aspire to improve in or manifest for my life. Is this you, too?

I realize that I’m not getting any younger and the same goals I talked about obtaining two years ago were still on my “current list.” No good.

Drop dem coins, sis!

Can you believe that NOW I’m the one paying my coins for conferences, group business coaching, retreats, classes, girls trip, workshops–Yes, ya girl had to glow up.

I’m telling you all this because if it was last year, I would have looked at you like you were crazy and laughed in your face if you even mentioned paying over $100 for anything “empowering.” That’s what You Tube is for, right?!

The hard cold reality is…

  • It’s all about your inner work.
  • Sometimes, you need to do something you’ve never done before to get to where you want to be.
  • Identify your core values
  • Stop limiting yourself to the broke mentality
  • You aren’t getting any younger
  • You have to do it for your kids, your future…your purpose.
